The Steam Engine’s relaxed vibe and small size make it a great spot to get away from the maddening London crowds! Our hostel rooms are clean and tidy with great facilities for weary travellers, including free linen, free WiFi and free breakfast in the morning! The Steam Engine Pub is a friendly local legend, offering a great range of local and international beers and ales. The introduction of regular live music and karaoke has the bar buzzing every weekend and the friendly crowd welcomes all! Afternoons are best enjoyed with a frosty pint in the Steam Engine beer garden and BBQ area, playing pool or catching a game on Sky Sports.
Our Location near the vibrant pubs, buskers and bars of Southbank on the Thames also puts visitors within walking distance of the London Eye, Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. We are in Central London Zone 1, which is ideal for budget travellers, with excellent public transport links from Lambeth North underground station (Bakerloo Line) and Waterloo Station.

With each of our friendly group hostels being situated above traditional London Pubs we are ideal for Hen and Stag Accommodation. Unfortunately we are unable to accept school groups or groups under 18 years of age for licensing reasons.

when you exit Lambeth North station you will see a large Church, cross the road and walk past it so it is on your left, you are now on Kennington Rd. Walk about 200 metres and you will see Cosser Street on your right, just behind Days Hotel. We are 20 metres down this road on the left. The hostel is within The Steam Engine Pub

HEATHROW AIRPORT:
Take Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus and transfer to the Bakerloo Line to Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately an hour.
Eurostar from Kings Cross St Pancras:
- Underground via Hammersmith & City or Circle lines to Edgware Road
- Bus 205 to Edgware Road Circle line Station
HEATHROW AIRPORT:
Take Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus and transfer to the Bakerloo Line to Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately an hour.
GATWICK AIRPORT:
Take Thameslink Rail towards Bedford to London Bridge. Then take the Northern Line to Elephant and Castle. Transfer onto the Bakerloo Line to Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately 50 mins.
STANSTED AIRPORT:
Take the Stanstead Express train or bus to Liverpool Street Station. Take the Central Underground line to Bank and change to the Northern line. Head south to Elephant & Castle. Change to the Bakerloo line and get off at Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately 90 mins.
GATWICK AIRPORT:
Take Thameslink Rail towards Bedford to London Bridge. Then take the Northern Line to Elephant and Castle. Transfer onto the Bakerloo Line to Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately 50 mins.
LUTON AIRPORT:
Walk to Luton Airport Parkway. Take Thameslink Rail towards Brighton to Farringdon. Then, take Metropolitan Line towards Aldgate to Moorgate. Transfer to the Northern Line to Elephant and Castle. At Elephant and Castle transfer onto the Bakerloo Line to Lambeth North. The entire journey will take approximately 80 mins.
